The CGTSIM briefly<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Founded in 1972 under the Education Act<\/em><\/a>, the CGTSIM has a unique business model. The organization is a public body administered by a Board of Directors. Based in Montreal, it manages the issuing, collection, and management of school taxes for the three school service centres (SSCs) and two school boards (SBs) on the Island of Montreal, covering nearly 563,000 accounts. The CGTSIM also offers a range of administrative, technical, and financial services, enabling its partners to devote themselves fully to their educational mission.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The CGTSIM is particularly known for managing the annual school tax, a key source of funding for Montreal\u2019s school network. This tax enables the school network to fund the maintenance and operation of its facilities, the administration and management of its establishments, and head office expenses. Also, the amount collected covers part of the management of school transportation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

In addition to collecting the school tax on behalf of the SSCs and SBs on the Island of Montr\u00e9al, the CGTSIM is proud to provide them with an additional allocation for underprivileged areas. To this end, it allocates among them additional school tax billings as well as investment interest income, after deducting the amount it determines is required for its own operations, in order to support educational catch-up measures in underprivileged areas across the Island. This allocation of resources is crucial for ensuring equal opportunities for school success.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
